Final Part 4 Video Critque

Summary: The video was about a 6 year old George who had cancer and had a wish to play with the Panthers and Cam Newton. George Got his wish after he went into intermission and was drafted to the Panthers in the 2014 NFL Draft. George got to go to Carolina and spend the day with Cam and the Panthers. He got to do many things with the team even practice with them.

The video was good with Broll, interviews, a great story, and a good voice over. The video told a great story about a kid who had a dream come true when he got to play for the Panthers for a day. It was also told buy the families point of view and the kids which the director id a great job of telling it that way and not making it sound like it was coming from him. I liked the voice over and would like to use that in my work and also the Broll wasn't just from far away but up close and in the middle of the action and that is also something else i would like to apply to my work. I already new about the six shot sequence and the 180 rule that was used in the video. He did a great job telling the story it didnt leave out any part of it. It told the story from the beginning when George got sick to him winning and defeating cancer to the end where he got his dream to come true and played for the Carolina Panthers. The video was great and I wouldn't of added anything or taken anything away. I really liked the video and thought they did a great got making it.

Final part 3

How to Film, Edit, and Blog a project.

First you have to go to the game or event and film it and get an interview with whoever was in charge or an important person involved. Then you go and download the clips from the SD card to the computer. Next you look through the clips and choose your favorites that you want to use, then you edit them down so they look clean and put them into the story. After that you do the same for the interview and you put it into the story to where it makes since so that you can edit the other clips using the J and L edit so that you have b-roll overlapping your interview to make it look better. Then you export the video as a 720pixels to your desktop. Next you go to your Youtube page and you import the video to your youtube. Once its done importing you go to share under the video and then to embed and copy the code.
Then you go to your blog and click on the HTML tab in the top left and past the code.
Then you go back to the compose tab and the video should show up. After that you write a story over your project, put a Title, and then click the publish button. Thats how you film, edit, export, import, and write a blog.

Final part 2 Article

The article is about the most important games left in this years NFL season. It talks about all the games and what would happen if this team won or if the other team won it also talks about their rankings and where they are in there division.
The strengths that the author has in the story is that he knows what he is talking about and has multiple areas to get info for his story, Its also from ESPN so they get all the information from the teams and the pros themselves.  A weakness is he talks about some teams and games more than others which kind of makes you think he knows more about others than others. The author main idea was that there are still important games left in the year even though there are some teams that already in the playoffs.
I liked the story because it talked about multiple games and why they where important to the teams playing and it showed that there are a lot of tight leads in most of the divisions still. The author also is knew what he was talking about and made the story interesting because it connected some of the key games left and how if something happened it could change the other games. The author also made it interesting so that know you would want to watch the games he talked about to see who would win.

Finals Part 1 Soccer recap

The Men’s soccer team had a great season, finishing with a 15-3-1 record. Numerous individual records were broken as well, Connor Jokerst broke the single season scoring record with 19 goals, and Chris Cotton broke the single season asset record with 13 assists. Goalie, Charlie Holmgren also broke the fewest goals allowed in a season. Congratulations to the team on having such an amazing season. Zach Clay and Matt Vanderslice have the video story.

This assignment was a recap of the Ravens mens soccer team season and we interviewed Griffin King a varsity soccer player about the year. We had got the film from the soccer games through out the season, then we interviewed Griffin King for the project, next we edited the film and finished the project for our show.
What I learned is how to interview a person outside when it was windy and how to use the best of the interviews to make the project look good. I would interview more people and get more clips of the soccer team through out the year instead of the end when jest me and Zach filmed because then it would make the video better. I would do the interview outside if I had to do it again and I would have filmed Griffin because he gave good answers and it made the project better.
I will take away a few things from this project like how to film outside when its windy and how to get clips from one computer to another when you don't have a clip on your computer. I thought the project was good we had good clips, a good interview that didn't take place just in the hallway, and we got the project done on time and it gave the information that was needed.

Ravens vs. Blue Valley in First Round of Regionals

The Ravens took on the Blue Valley Tigers in the first round of the regional tournament. The Ravens started off the game strong with a goal from Chase Klusman. Connor Jokerst then followed that up with two goals of his own. The Ravens continued to dominate throughout the entire game, with Wyatt Fowler and Evan Kaloupek both scoring. Keeper Charlie Holmgren came away with another shutout as the Ravens beat the Tigers 5-0. The Ravens next game will be on Thursday at CBAC against the Shawnee Mission West Vikings.

Olathe Northwest loses to SME

Olathe Northwest took on Shawnee Mission East to see who goes to play in the Kansas 6a State semifinals. ONW was without key player and senior Griffin King who was out because of a red card in a win against SMW. The Raven offense came out firing against SME but came up scoreless. SME find away to get three goals passed a stellar Charlie Holmgren. For more highlights check the video below, Nick Lopez and Matthew Vanderslice have the recap.

Soccer Regionals

Last Thursday,  the Ravens took on Shawnee Mission West in their regional matchup. The game was very tense throughout, and things finally boiled over when Senior Griffen King received a red card and was ejected from the game putting the Ravens down a man the remainder of the contest. However, they overcame the setback and rallied as a team. Eric Cooksey scored in the 61st minute to put the Ravens up 1-0, and Chase Klusman sealed the deal on a penalty kick, giving the Ravens the 2-0 win. The Ravens will continue their journey to the state championship next week. Zach Clay and Matt Vanderslice have the video story.

I have done all of the soccer games either filmed and wrote the script or just wrote the script because I had football and couldn’t film the game. I have also helped Jake and parker edit the film for soccer. I have also done one of the girl’s golf tournament and the dodgeball tournament.  I also helped Jake by pre-reading the cross-country stories and helping him with that. I had done this because I liked to do it and also because it was for my grade it has taken me 31 hours out of school and probably a day or two after the filming in class. The outcome was put on ONW now and also on YouTube. I learned how to write better scripts over the year and film better and not be as shake. My strengths are writing scripts and editing the film, and writing questions to ask to coaches. An area I need to improve on is my filming and to be more sturdy. I have learned a lot over this semester and have improved my talking and writing skills. Also have learned how to be more time manageable with getting to events after practice and doing homework and then editing and writing scripts in class. I will Change the way I work in class and find more work to do. I will keep the way I got to events around practice and homework and writing and editing during class. I want to learn more about filming and editing and become an even better scriptwriter. I have grown as a student and have stopped playing games and focused more and have done more and more sense the beginning of the semester.

The video was about the top 10 most fascinating people and the different type of stories about there life and what they will be doing in the future as work. It also talked about their past and what got them to where they are now. The video told the stories of the people and how their life is as celebrities. An element I would put in my own work is to do the interviews more like how she did and make people feel more comfortable. The way the interviews where set up in the video. They did the interviews well and got a lot of different kinds of people to interview which made it good because it kept you interested in the video on who is coming up and stories you didn't know about the celebraties . I think that the interviewer could have been less robotic and more human because it would have made the video better to watch and not make you want to go to sleep. I thought that the video was alright but that the interviewer was boring to listen to and made me want to fall asleep. All in all i liked the video.

Volleyball VS. Sumner

I helped with the filming and wrote the scripts and edited the film on this project. things I could have improved on getting more shots and better audio. I have done a good job on getting the footage done on time and writing the script. It didn't make it on ONW now because we didn't have a show that week and it would have been to old to put on the other ones.

Professional project review post

So far this year in E-communications I have filmed every home soccer game and some of the away games, I have also gone to one volleyball meet and a Golf meet. It had been hard to get the 20 hours because I had played football during the fall and will be playing basketball during the winter. I have helped filmed all those events and I have also written the script and helped edited for all the events while parker or jake edited and did voice overs for them and have done about 10 projects. I have also helped with the open house as a room speaker and set up.

Soccer Vs Lawrence

I have learned a lot over the year with filming soccer like how to hold the camera steadier and by getting closer up on shots and writing scripts. I have done better on all those things but I still need work filming and editing more. This project made it on ONW now and the youtube and website page.

Soccer Vs SME

Soccer

This is one of my first games and I had a lot to improve on because I was a little shake and didn't get that good of close up shots. A thing I did good was writing the script.

Golf

The passage was about how the person had to go to the people that where on campus when the shooter was there and that he was called names and was called desperate when he asked the people over twitter to meet and talk to him. The things I have learned form this passage is that sometimes you are going to get called names and different stuff when trying to get stories. The thing I would have done different was to ask to meet with them and not ask them what happened through twitter. I have learned that when you get into the real world with the job you will have to do some stuff that people wouldn't want to do.

Great Value

Great Value

Scope:

We had to create a short film that was between three and five minutes. Once we got told that we had to do the short film we had some difficulty deciding what to do it over at first but we decided to o with Anton's idea and it end up be inning a great film.

Process:
we got are group chosen and then we decided on the film at first we argued a lot because me and Brendan had n idea to do a baseball type film but Anton wanted to do it based off the office. After a day of arguing we decided to go with Anton because he was done writing the script and was ready to film plus he was our director. we filmed up until the monday of the week the project was due, the rest of the week we spent editing and friday we turned it into blogger and watched them Monday.

Different:

I would have redone some of the shots and gotten some more B roll. I also thought at sometimes we got off task but we still got the project done. We also had some difficulty at the beginning of the video because Anton was gone with Tennis and so we started to do a different story and when he got back he didn't like it and got mad at us at the beginning but at the end i think we worked great together.

Similar:

I liked the script and how we just got to play around with it and didn't have to say directly what it said. I also liked the group and the rolls we had to play in the movies. All around i think it was one of my best groups and that we worked great together and i think we made a great film.

Take Away:

I will take a lot away from this dilm probably the most was working together even when we didn't like some ideas to make them better. I learned a lot from this year i learned the six shot sequence and i also learned how to interview and do voice overs, another thing was how to edit videos and how to work with people that i didn't want to work with sometimes. I will use this stuff next year and years after when i am in Sports Broadcasting.

The Year:

This has been a good year at the beginning when Elijah and David where in here it was a lot of fun and i had fun doing the afferent types of videos and learning how to do stuff with the camera and to make good films. Then semester two hit and Elijah and David had transferred out and i thought i wasn't going to like this class but then i started to work with different people and it started to get fun again and i was glad i stayed in E-comm. Over the year i have made new friends and have had fun making some pretty good movies. The worst part was when you said you where going to give me Elijah and David a detintion but all around it was a good year.

semester final

What Did I Learn?
I learned how to do a lot of new things this semester like how to film wrestling which is different then filming soccer because you are a lot closer and have to be paying attention at all time because something might happen where in soccer the ball stays at the mid-field some times where you don't need to film everything. I also learned how to set up my interviews better, writer better questions for the interview, and how to work the equipment for the show.

How Did I Learn It?
I learned how to do most of these things from watching others and what they did and how they did it. I also learned a lot of it from Parker at the games or in class when he would help me with the filming and the write ups and editing. Another person who has helped me with my writing was the teachers looking over the writing and editing it telling me what was right and what i needed to fix.

Why is it important?
Its important to learn this stuff because I will have to use it in the class next year and if i decide to do this as my Job then I will need it then also. It also helps with regular day things like talking to people and having conversations with people you don't know. Another thing is it will help when you are getting interviewed for a job or if you ever have to interview someone yourself it would help you with that because you are use to it and wont be nerves or scared heading into it.

Strengths?
One of my strengths is filming and getting to every game I'm suppose to film even if I have practice or something going on I still try to get to the games for at least a half of it. Also my filming because I got good shots and my footage was used in a lot of the stories. Another strength is turning stuff in on time and doing my assignments the next day after filming.

Weaknesses?
One of my weaknesses is class time and what I do with it spending time on my phone, playing, games and talking to friends when I have nothing to do. Also need to work more on my writing and editing film so i have less mistakes that need to be corrected. I have improved my writing from first semester having less errors and more details in it. I have also improved my editing by learning new things and making my films better.

What Will I Do With What I Learned?
I will use what I learned to help me communicate with friends and also in job interviews or out in the world. I will also use it in this class again next year to make my stuff and hopefully learn more to make my films better then they where this year. I will also use it in college if I keep on doing sports broadcasting to help me pass that class and get a job. If I don't do sports broadcasting then it will help me with my communication and writing skills.

Anything I would change?
I would change the grading so that kids know what they have before the end of the semester and then in a rush to get a story done to turn in for a grade they want. I would also change the way we do filming and that so people don't keep on going when others don't go at all.

Summary?
Great class had a lot of fun and made new friends. I learned a lot that will help me in the future. I would like some of the stuff to change but other than that it was good.

JJ Spray

I learned how to make a 3D box and how to put in images onto it. I also learned how to make a box in illustrator.  I thought this project was alright but it took to long and i got bored doing it during the middle part of it. Also i had some computer issues at the beggining but at the end i got the project done and was able to help out the people around me.
